Over 15 million people suffer from vision-related issues in India which has the largest blind population in the world – 20% of the global blind. Effective treatment is restrained by several aspects including the fact that only 35,000 corneas are collected each year for eye donation when the requirement is for around 1, 50, 000 corneas.

Sethi Foundation is focused towards alleviating the difficulties faced by the visually challenged and is working on an innovative solution in association with technical experts who create devices that act as reverse sensors in cars. The device beeps depending on the distance from an object and the frequency of the beep increases as the device approaches the object.

We envisage using this technology to create intelligent aids that help those visually-challenged in their daily life especially as they find their way in traffic on the roads.
